Orthodox Christian Youth Network Uganda Guided by Faith, Driven by Action, Empowered by Youth

The Orthodox Christian Youth Network Uganda (OCYNU) is an independent, lay-driven NGO that ignites the power of youth to build a brighter future. While we treasure the rich spiritual heritage of Orthodox Christianity, we operate autonomously from the Uganda Orthodox Church, empowering a new generation to lead with faith, service, and innovation.

About Us

Lighting the Path for Tomorrow

We believe that Ugandan youth are not just the future of the Church—they are its dynamic, transformative force today. In a world faced with spiritual uncertainty, economic challenges, and environmental crises, OCYNU provides the platform, training, and support for young people to become architects of positive change in their own communities.

Our Vision: A Uganda where Orthodox youth are spiritually grounded, economically self-reliant, and active stewards of their communities and environment, shining as beacons of Christ’s love.

Our Mission: To holistically empower Ugandan youth through Orthodox evangelization, socio-economic programs, and environmental advocacy, fostering a movement of faithful and responsible leaders.

Priority Area | Core Focus & Initiatives

At OCYNU, our work is built on five foundational pillars that address the complete needs of the individual and the community.

🙏 Orthodox Evangelization

Youth-led liturgical gatherings, Bible studies, and workshops exploring Orthodox teachings. We equip you to share your faith through actions and words, creating a supportive peer community for spiritual growth.

🌳 Environmental Protection

Education on Orthodox principles of creation care. We lead tree-planting drives, promote sustainable agriculture (like community gardens), and run conservation projects to protect Uganda's natural beauty for future generations.

❤️ Health & Well-being

We focus on holistic health: physical, mental, and emotional. Our programs include sexual and reproductive health education to prevent early pregnancy and disease, mental health workshops, and initiatives to improve access to clean water and sanitation.

⭐ Talent Development

Developing talent in young people is a vital investment in the future of society, economy, and innovation. Nurturing young talent helps cultivate skilled professionals, creative thinkers, and compassionate leaders who can navigate the complexities of the modern world.

📚 Education Support

We provide scholarships, after-school tutoring, and literacy programs for vulnerable youth. Our initiatives include life skills training and mentorship to ensure students excel academically and personally.

💼 Socio-Economic Transformation

Skills training, vocational workshops, and financial literacy programs. We support young entrepreneurs with mentorship and seed funding, empowering them to build sustainable livelihoods and break the cycle of poverty.

  • Identify the Needs

First, look closely at the local area. Talk to leaders and families in communities to find out what they struggle with most.. This helps you focus your help where it is needed most.

  • Make a Clear Plan

Write down exactly what you want to do. Define our goal, who will help, and what We need to succeed.

  • Gather Resources and Funds

We need supplies or money to run your programs. We can ask for donations from businesses, apply for grants, or organize community food and clothing drives. We can also build your team by asking friends and neighbors to volunteer their time and skills.

  • Deliver the Aid

Put our plan into action! Hand out the supplies, teach classes, or build the facilities the community needs. Make sure treat everyone with respect. Always let the people getting help tell us what works best for them.

  • Check Your Results

Review our work to see if it really helped people. Ask the people we helped if their lives got better. If something did not work well, change the plan.

Our Highest Ambition
is to Help People

Helping people is the ultimate goal. It makes the world a better place. Small acts of kindness create big changes. When we share our time and skills, everyone wins. This focus builds strong communities and brings joy to everyday life.
